(Amsterdam).- The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, Ksa) is an independent administrative body and the supervisor and regulator of gambling services funded by the industry through gambling levies. The Ministry of Justice and Security bears the political responsibility for gambling policy in the Netherlands.
Management and organisation
The Netherlands Gambling Authority was established in 2012. It is governed by a Board of Directors. The board members are appointed and dismissed by the Ministry of Justice and Security, but are independent in their decision making.
Mission and strategy
The Ksa is neither for nor against gambling. We think it is important that gambling is safe and fair. Hence our mission: Playing Safely. What constitutes safe and fair is specified in laws, regulations and licensing conditions. We strive to create a world where gambling services are reliable, operators are transparent and players are protected.
Playing it safe
Would you like to gamble, but minimise your risk? Check the register of licensees before registering at an operator. The register contains all legal operators by company name, website, app and license number. These operators are being supervised under Dutch law by our authority. This ensures a safe environment in which the games you play are fair. You can check the register on the Dutch-language part of our site.
International collaboration
The Ksa engages in various forms of international collaboration, first and foremost because interest lies in building and exchanging knowledge and expertise with fellow regulators from other European jurisdictions. This helps us to increase our knowledge and keep up with new trends and developments in other countries. This in turn enables us to better fulfil our own regulatory duties.
